Bu yapılar “if” anlamındadır, fakat taşıdıkları anlam biraz daha güçlüdür. Yapı olarak aynı “if” gibi kullanılırlar.

 

Provided that / Providing (that)  … şartıyla, …kaydıyla

 

v       I can afford to have a holiday providing (provided) that I earn fifty pounds a day.[i1]           

v       You can borrow the car provided that you promise to drive carefully.[i2]

As long as /so long as    olduğu sürece, olursa
